The Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights has formally requested the registration of a First Information Report regarding the tragic deaths of 14 infants at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences. Presided over by Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri, the committee expressed significant dissatisfaction with institutional oversight. Members recommended that the former executive director and other implicated staff be added to the Exit Control List to prevent them from leaving the country. Furthermore, the committee ordered the attachment of assets belonging to those deemed responsible for the incident. During the proceedings, officials from the hospital and the Ministry of Health were summoned to provide a detailed account of the events. The committee also criticized the absence of the executive director from prior meetings, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding accountability and administrative negligence in the handling of this healthcare crisis.
