Senator Francis Pangilinan stated that excluding the bribery allegation from the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte could lead to a more efficient trial. According to Pangilinan, the defense team is likely to decrease its original roster of 30 witnesses, which would consequently reduce the total number of days required for the trial. The prosecution is anticipated to conclude its presentation next week following the testimony of lawyer Alexander Cabrera. Cabrera previously provided evidence regarding approximately 817.87 million pesos in assets and income allegedly not disclosed by the Vice President and her spouse, Manases Carpio, during the 2022 fiscal year. The overall pace of the proceedings will ultimately depend on how the defense manages its evidence and witness strategy moving forward.
