The six-megawatt Relekhola Hydropower Project, situated in the Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi, has ceased electricity production due to significant damage caused by flooding. Project manager Darshan Kafle reported that heavy rainfall between September 24 and 27 compromised the dam structure. Restoration efforts are currently hindered by the facility's remote location, as landslides have obstructed access roads, preventing crews from reaching the site to manage water diversion or conduct repairs. The project, which only recently began contributing to the national grid via the 220 kV Dana substation, also faces infrastructure challenges as nearby Kaligandaki River floods have destroyed transmission towers and severed power lines. Authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage while waiting for road access to be restored to the isolated site.
