SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has indicated that the conglomerate is evaluating the construction of new semiconductor manufacturing facilities in Gwangju. This potential expansion would complement the company's existing development of a major chip cluster in Yongin. During an inspection of the proposed site at the Gwangju military air base, Chey emphasized the necessity of scaling up production capacity rapidly to address the accelerating global demand for chips. He stated that the company intends to proceed with building new plants as quickly as operational conditions permit. This strategic move aims to ensure that SK Group maintains its competitive edge by significantly increasing its output to meet the requirements of the evolving technology market.
