Representative Kim Byung-joo of the Democratic Party of Korea has publicly challenged the nation's leading defense contractors regarding their level of corporate social responsibility. Despite experiencing a significant surge in profits driven by a robust increase in international arms exports, these companies are reportedly allocating insufficient funds toward social contribution initiatives. Data provided by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration to the National Assembly’s National Defense Committee highlights the financial performance of five major defense manufacturers, including Hanwha Aerospace. Kim argues that these corporations should utilize their record-breaking earnings to better support the community, given the substantial growth in their commercial success within the global defense market.
