The Japanese Immigration Services Agency has deported two citizens of Uzbekistan back to their home country at government expense. According to the Japanese Embassy in Tashkent, the individuals had originally entered Japan on student visas but remained in the country unlawfully after their permits expired. Japanese officials emphasized that student visas are strictly for academic purposes and do not authorize employment. Authorities warned that illegal residency or unauthorized work leads to detention and forced removal. Furthermore, the embassy cautioned against misinformation regarding refugee status, noting that filing such claims to extend residency or secure work is ineffective and can lead to legal repercussions. The Japanese government shares data on these offenders with Uzbek authorities, potentially resulting in further consequences upon their return. Citizens are advised to ignore fraudulent claims suggesting that working in Japan is easily accessible.
