Sri Lankan Deputy Minister Kaushalya Ariyaratne and Member of Parliament Kavinda Jayawardena are currently in Guernsey to take part in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s Advanced Parliamentary Development Residency Programme. Running from October 12 to 16, 2026, the five-day event is hosted by the CPA Parliamentary Academy in collaboration with the States of Deliberation. The initiative gathers approximately 30 legislators from various Commonwealth nations, including Australia, Canada, Kenya, and Pakistan, to exchange expertise. The curriculum is designed to enhance core parliamentary functions, specifically targeting improvements in legislative oversight, the efficacy of committee operations, and modern communication strategies. This residency serves as a platform for international cooperation among parliamentarians to refine governance practices within their respective jurisdictions.
