Residents living as subtenants in Dhaka's Azimpur Government Colony are being forced to vacate their homes on short notice. This sudden displacement follows reports of upcoming government inspections of these state-owned residential facilities. One student from Eden Mohila College reported receiving an abrupt eviction notice while away for the Durga Puja holidays, requiring her to remove all personal belongings by the end of October. Despite prior agreements typically requiring a two-month notice period, many subtenants are now scrambling to find alternative housing as landlords move to clear unauthorized occupants before officials arrive. The situation has left numerous students and other renters in a precarious position, forcing them to relocate their furniture and possessions on short notice to comply with these urgent directives.
