A collaborative search operation involving Manipur Police, the Assam Rifles, and central paramilitary forces resulted in the discovery of two deceased Kuki men on Sunday. Paoginlal Hangshing and Tinginlun Chongloi had been reported missing since October 28 while traveling through the Kangpokpi district. Their disappearance prompted a total shutdown organized by the Committee on Tribal Unity. Authorities located the remains along the SP Road, a mountainous route linking Senapati and Kangpokpi. This incident follows a separate fatal confrontation in Noney district involving members of the same community. Manipur has experienced persistent ethnic instability between the Meitei and Kuki groups since May 2023, resulting in significant casualties, mass displacement, and a severe deterioration of regional security. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that search efforts are ongoing to identify and capture the perpetrators responsible for these homicides.
