The Supreme Court of India is scheduled to hear a petition regarding the future of a 135-year-old government library located in Delhi. A judicial bench consisting of Justices Sanjay Kumar and Sanjeev Sachdeva will preside over the proceedings this coming Monday. The case, formally registered as "In Re: 135-yr-old library, 8.5 lakh books-and no room in the Central Vista plan," addresses concerns about the institution's displacement. The library currently houses a collection of approximately 850,000 books, and the legal challenge focuses on the lack of provisions for this extensive archive within the ongoing Central Vista redevelopment project.
