Atchariya Ruangrattanapong, a well-known Thai activist and founder of the Crime Victims Assistance Club, was arrested by cyber police on Saturday. He faces serious charges including money laundering, public fraud, and illegal online boxing gambling, following an investigation into a betting network with a reported turnover exceeding ฿1 billion. Authorities are scrutinizing 212 specific transactions totaling over ฿40 million, which they allege link the activist to the illicit operation. Atchariya, who has previously campaigned against police corruption and high-profile criminal cases, has denied all accusations, maintaining that his financial activities are legitimate. He is currently held at the Thung Song Hong Police Station and is scheduled to appear before the Criminal Court on Monday, where investigators will seek his formal remand. The case stems from a broader crackdown on Muay Thai gambling rings that began earlier this year.
