Taiwan's Minister of Culture, Li Yuan, announced the upcoming Taiwan International Comics Festival scheduled for 2027. The event will be curated by British historian Paul Gravett and hosted at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taichung. This initiative builds upon the Ministry of Culture's ongoing support for the local comics sector, which has included subsidies and the creation of the National Taiwan Comic Museum since 2018. During his visit to London, Li also met with Booker Prize Foundation CEO Gaby Wood to discuss the success of Yang Shuang-zi's novel, 'Taiwan Travelogue,' and the foundation's new Children's Booker Prize. The festival aims to elevate the status of comics as a significant art form while fostering international connections and highlighting the global relevance of Taiwanese creative works.
