Thai badminton player Pitchamon Opatniputh has received a provisional suspension following a positive test for a prohibited substance. The International Testing Agency, acting for the Olympic Council of Asia, identified furosemide in a sample collected from the athlete during an out-of-competition screening in Nagoya on September 17. Furosemide is classified by the World Anti-Doping Agency as a diuretic and masking agent, which is banned at all times. Due to this ongoing disciplinary measure, the athlete is currently ineligible to participate in the 2026 Asian Games taking place in Japan. The testing agency confirmed that the substance falls under the S5 category of restricted materials, leading to the immediate enforcement of the suspension while the case proceeds.
