People’s Party MP Rangsiman Rome has summoned Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Sangtanasap and her Australian husband, Taiyang Zhang, to appear before a House committee on October 7. The inquiry focuses on the couple's declared assets, which total nearly ฿2 billion, including a significant ฿1.44 billion loan previously extended to the failed cryptocurrency firm Three Arrows Capital. The investigation involves collaboration with the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Anti-Money Laundering Office, and the Securities and Exchange Commission to verify the origins of Mr. Zhang’s fortune. This probe follows allegations regarding potential links to international scam operations, which Ms. Suchada has vehemently denied. In response to the accusations, the MP has filed a criminal defamation complaint against Mr. Rome. While the committee emphasizes that no wrongdoing has been proven, it maintains that the financial disclosures require further parliamentary scrutiny to ensure transparency regarding the family's substantial wealth.
