The political family associated with former president Jair Bolsonaro achieved notable success in the latest Brazilian elections. Flavio Bolsonaro, the eldest son, outperformed President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the initial round, securing 47 percent of the vote against Lula's 45 percent, with a runoff scheduled for October 25. This electoral performance follows the legal disqualification of the former president, who is barred from seeking office until 2030 due to coup-related charges. Furthermore, the Liberal Party, aligned with the Bolsonaro family, emerged as the dominant faction in the Senate by capturing 19 of the 54 contested seats, although it did not reach a full majority. Additionally, Michelle Bolsonaro, the spouse of the former president, received a high volume of votes, further cementing the family's influence within the current national political landscape.
