Tribhuvan University has successfully retrieved 167.1 million rupees from 77 staff members who improperly utilized their study leave privileges. A recent report presented to Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Bhola Thapa indicates that approximately 450 employees and faculty members were identified for violating leave policies. While the university has processed payments for 18 additional individuals totaling 44 million rupees, these funds remain outstanding. Furthermore, about 40 other staff members are currently working toward repayment. Despite these efforts, only 17 percent of the total group identified for misuse have returned the required funds, leaving 83 percent of the cases unresolved. Although the government views the partial recovery as a notable success, the institution continues to face significant challenges in collecting the remaining balance from the vast majority of those involved.
