Recent data from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development indicates that Turkey leads member nations in the percentage of individuals aged 15 to 29 who are neither employed nor participating in educational or training programs. At 27.12 percent, this figure is significantly higher than the average of 12.9 percent across the organization. For the younger demographic aged 15 to 24, Turkey holds the second-highest position globally, trailing only Colombia. Domestic reports from the Turkish Statistical Institute corroborate this trend, showing an increase in the proportion of inactive youth from 22.9 percent in 2024 to 23.3 percent in 2025. These statistics highlight ongoing challenges regarding youth integration into the labor market and educational systems within the country.
