Aselsan, a prominent Turkish defense and electronics manufacturer, is actively pursuing collaborative opportunities with Japanese firms to develop air defense technologies and underwater drone systems. CEO Ahmet Akyol highlighted the company's competitive advantages, including rapid production cycles, cost efficiency, and proven operational performance. This initiative aligns with broader efforts by Ankara and Tokyo to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation, a topic recently discussed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Japanese leadership. Aselsan, which reported a 26% revenue increase to $4.46 billion in 2025, intends to utilize its expertise in radar and electronic warfare to address emerging security challenges in Asia, such as countering suicide drones and protecting maritime assets. The company views the current political alignment between the two nations as a foundation for establishing long-term industrial partnerships.
