According to data from the Freedom of Expression Association's EngelliWeb project, Turkish authorities issued directives to restrict access to at least 1,270 X accounts throughout September. This figure exceeds the total number of accounts targeted throughout the entirety of 2025. Following these legal mandates, the platform rendered 1,139 of these accounts inaccessible to domestic users, as implementation requires specific action from the company. The scope of these restrictions encompasses various journalists and academics. Furthermore, the EngelliWeb project itself faced a blocking order on October 1, though the platform had not yet restricted its account at the time of the announcement. The organization noted that the specific judicial body and legal justifications behind this latest order remain undisclosed to the public.
