Turkish authorities have initiated legal proceedings against 45 individuals following a demonstration held during the NATO summit in Ankara this past July. The group, which includes prominent figures from various leftist political organizations and civic leaders such as Linda Sevinç Hocaoğulları, faced police intervention at Kurtuluş Park on the summit's opening day. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has formally charged the defendants with involvement in unauthorized public gatherings and refusing to comply with dispersal orders issued by law enforcement. According to the indictment, the participants allegedly resisted police directives and engaged in physical confrontation during the event. Among those facing prosecution are the Ankara provincial chairs of the Workers’ Party of Turkey, the Labor Party, and the Labor Movement Party. The case highlights ongoing tensions regarding public assembly rights during high-profile international diplomatic events hosted within the country.
