Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, the UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, has stated that the Strait of Hormuz must remain free from unilateral control or shipping tolls. Speaking at the Hili Forum in Abu Dhabi, he emphasized that no individual nation possesses the authority to restrict access to this critical international waterway, which historically facilitates a significant portion of global energy transit. The minister characterized the freedom of navigation through the strait as a fundamental red line for the Gulf region, asserting that trade ambitions should not be dictated by any single state. In response to potential maritime disruptions, the UAE is actively developing regional logistics corridors that connect the Arabian Gulf to the Red Sea and the Gulf of Oman, while collaborating with Omani officials to streamline trade processes.
