Uzbekistan has been officially chosen to organize the 16th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in 2031. This decision was formalized within the Abu Dhabi Declaration during the current 15th session held in the United Arab Emirates. Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration, highlighted that this selection reflects international confidence in the nation's commitment to global cooperation and reform. The upcoming five-year preparatory period will focus on addressing evolving criminal threats, including digital transformation, transnational terrorism, and corruption. During the current summit, which runs through October 1, participants are examining strategies to strengthen the rule of law and protect vulnerable populations. Mirziyoyeva also utilized the platform to discuss ongoing collaborative projects with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and to explore bilateral economic and technological partnerships with Emirati leadership.
