The Ministry of Works has addressed public concerns regarding recent flash floods and landslides in the Cameron Highlands, specifically responding to requests to halt the Cameron Highlands Bypass Project. The Public Works Department clarified that the initiative, which includes the Tanah Rata Bypass and upgrades to Federal Roads FT59 and FT434, is currently limited to the design and assessment phase. Officials stated that no physical construction has taken place on the ground, aside from standard road maintenance. Consequently, the ministry dismissed allegations that the project is responsible for the recent environmental incidents in the region, labeling calls for a project suspension as premature given that the work has not yet started.
