Police in Ahmedabad have taken sixty-one individuals into custody, alleging they lack valid documentation. The detentions occurred during a security initiative launched in anticipation of the upcoming Diwali festival. According to law enforcement reports, the majority of those apprehended are believed to be from Bangladesh, with the group including several women and minors. Following their initial detention, the individuals were transported to the crime branch headquarters of the Gujarat Police. Plans are in place to transfer them to a Joint Interrogation Centre, where state and central agencies will conduct formal inquiries. Officials indicated that legal measures to facilitate their deportation have already commenced. This operation follows a broader trend of increased security measures implemented by police forces across various states in response to recent security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir.
