The Bangladeshi government has finalized plans to conduct a direct recruitment drive for 4,000 sub-inspectors within the national police force. This decision was reached during a meeting of the Secretaries’ Committee on Administrative Development. To enable this change, authorities have modified the Police Regulations of Bengal. While previous protocols mandated that half of these positions be reserved for internal departmental promotions, the current initiative will fill all 4,000 vacancies through direct hiring. Furthermore, the committee has sanctioned the recruitment of 10,000 additional constables to bolster police staffing levels. Reports also indicate that a specialized Bangladesh Civil Service examination will be organized to appoint between 400 and 500 assistant superintendents of police.
