Judicial authorities in Bangladesh have mandated the freezing and seizure of assets valued at approximately 769.84 billion taka, both domestically and internationally, as part of a broader campaign to reclaim funds illicitly moved out of the country. The assets targeted by these legal actions encompass real estate, residential properties, corporate shares, bank accounts, and various investment holdings. During a recent meeting of the 13th parliament’s Standing Committee on Estimates, officials from the central bank presented a comprehensive report detailing the current status of these recovery efforts. The committee received updates regarding the progress made through August, noting that civil litigation has been launched to facilitate the retrieval of these siphoned resources. This initiative represents a significant government effort to track and secure wealth that was previously transferred abroad through unauthorized channels.
