To test the system, a minister's phone number was provided to these illicit platforms, resulting in the retrieval of his complete call history and location data for a fee. The leaked information includes National ID numbers, tax identification, and passport details. Upon reviewing his own compromised records, the minister expressed disbelief at the ease of access. The Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has characterized the situation as a major threat to national security. These platforms have reportedly been operating for several years, allowing registered users to purchase confidential communication logs and movement patterns of citizens. The incident highlights a systemic vulnerability in the protection of sensitive personal data across the country.
