Brazil and India are working to broaden their current preferential trade agreement with the Mercosur bloc. According to Márcio Elias Rosa, Brazil’s Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, the existing framework is insufficient given the significance of the economic relationship between the two nations. Officials have finalized the terms of reference, which serves as a foundational step toward formal negotiations for a more comprehensive trade arrangement. Speaking during the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting, Minister Rosa emphasized India's global economic importance and the strength of the bilateral ties between the two countries. This initiative aims to improve market access and deepen commercial cooperation, moving beyond the limitations of the current pact to foster stronger economic integration.
