The Land Transport Authority of Singapore has announced that full operations on the Sengkang West Inner Loop will recommence on October 4, 2026. This reopening occurs two weeks earlier than the original October 18 target. The line, which includes the Cheng Lim station, had been closed since April 19 for extensive infrastructure improvements. Officials attributed the accelerated timeline to improved work sequencing during the project. These upgrades are part of a broader initiative to triple the capacity of the Sengkang-Punggol LRT depot. By expanding the facility, the transport authority intends to house a larger train fleet to address rising passenger numbers. The construction involved substantial track modifications and the integration of new reception tracks connecting the expanded depot to the current rail network.
