Lin Ting Dao, a 101-year-old former newspaper vendor, died at his residence on October 16. Originally from China, Lin moved to Singapore as a teenager and eventually supported a large family of eight children alongside his wife, Wang Xiang Qing. Before his career in newspaper distribution, Lin worked in the construction sector, building traditional kampung-style homes for local residents. As urban development shifted toward public housing, he transitioned to selling newspapers. His dedication and disciplined saving habits allowed him to fund his youngest son's university education abroad. His life was marked by decades of industrious labor and commitment to his family's welfare, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and parental sacrifice.
