A manslaughter trial began on October 19 in the Northern Mariana Islands regarding the death of Alvin Rebamba, a 30-year-old Filipino citizen. The legal proceedings follow an incident occurring on November 16, 2025, outside a bar in Garapan, Saipan. Prosecutors allege that the defendant, Jeremy Guillermin, struck Rebamba, causing him to fall and sustain a fatal head injury on the pavement. Rebamba passed away four days after the altercation. During the opening statements, the prosecution highlighted the impact on the victim's family, including his partner and daughter in the Philippines. Conversely, the defense team argued that Rebamba was the initial aggressor in the confrontation. The victim's relatives were present in court as both sides presented their differing versions of the events that led to the tragedy.
