According to data from the Japan Meteorological Agency, central Tokyo has endured 34 days of continuous rainfall as of Tuesday. This period of sustained precipitation, which commenced on August 27, establishes a new historical record for the city. The previous benchmark was set in 2019, when the capital experienced 33 consecutive days of rain between late June and late July. Meteorologists attribute this prolonged wet weather pattern to a combination of factors, including the influence of typhoons, a stationary autumn rain front, and the presence of a low-pressure trough affecting the region.
