Three pet owners in Hong Kong have unsuccessfully challenged the government's decision to label their animals as fighting dogs. The Dogs and Cats Classification Board conducted consecutive appeal hearings at the Kowloon Animal Management Centre, ultimately upholding the designations. These classifications follow a recent government initiative to strengthen pet regulations after several fatal canine attacks occurred in August. According to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, seven dogs have been officially categorized under this status since August 20. Owners of animals classified as fighting dogs must comply with stricter safety protocols, including the mandatory use of muzzles in public spaces to ensure community safety.
