Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi recently met with Supreme Court attorneys to discuss new administrative measures designed to assist litigants and streamline judicial proceedings. During the session, he confirmed that all pending requests for expedited hearings have been scheduled. The registrar now holds the authority to approve these early hearing applications, provided they are accompanied by valid justifications. Furthermore, the Chief Justice reported significant progress in clearing the backlog, noting that 400 tax-related disputes were resolved within a single month, leaving only 23 cases from 2024 outstanding. He emphasized that all court scheduling must strictly adhere to established fixation policies to ensure procedural consistency. Moving forward, the court is addressing tax matters from 2025 and 2026, reflecting a commitment to efficient case management and the reduction of judicial delays for those seeking legal resolution.
