Trade volume between China and the five Central Asian countries has exceeded 100 billion dollars, underscoring the region's rising economic significance. This milestone was highlighted during the China Conference: Central Asia 2026, held in Astana on September 7. Organized by the South China Morning Post in partnership with the Astana International Financial Centre, the event gathered various stakeholders to discuss digital infrastructure, resource management, and capital investment. The conference explored the strengthening technological and financial ties between Greater China and Central Asia. This gathering represents the first major event of its kind hosted by a Hong Kong media entity in the region, following an official visit by Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee earlier this year.
