Representatives from several CIS nations, including Uzbekistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan, recently convened to discuss collaborative approaches to managing illegal migration. The meeting focused on enhancing security cooperation, specifically through the annual Operation Illegal, and improving the detection of migration-related offenses. Discussions also covered the refinement of national employment laws for foreign nationals and stateless individuals, as well as methods for regularizing the status of Afghan citizens within the region. Furthermore, the participants emphasized the necessity of strengthening institutional capacity through professional training programs for migration unit staff. By coordinating efforts among financial intelligence units and relevant authorities, the member states aim to harmonize their legal frameworks and improve the effectiveness of cross-border security operations, ultimately seeking to reduce criminal activity associated with the movement of foreign nationals and stateless persons across the Commonwealth.
