The Magistrate’s Court has declined a police application to prolong the remand period for Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, the former chairman of Tabung Haji. According to his legal representative, Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad, the authorities had sought an additional three days of detention to facilitate investigations under Section 420 of the Penal Code. However, the court rejected this request, and the former Baling Member of Parliament is scheduled to be released by 5pm today. Defense counsel argued that the remand extension was unnecessary, asserting that their client has consistently cooperated with law enforcement. They further stated that Abdul Azeez remains available to assist with ongoing inquiries at Bukit Aman whenever requested by investigators, rendering continued detention redundant for the purposes of the current probe.
