Opposition members in the House of Representatives have formally requested that the government establish a special parliamentary committee dedicated to disaster management. During a meeting held at the Nepali Congress office in Singha Durbar, representatives agreed to advocate for this body to improve the efficiency of search, rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations. The proposed committee would be tasked with monitoring ongoing field activities, offering strategic recommendations, and streamlining necessary legislative measures. CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Deputy Leader Padma Aryal confirmed that the opposition intends to maintain pressure on the administration to ensure this oversight mechanism is implemented. The coalition aims to utilize this platform to ensure that disaster response efforts are conducted effectively and transparently through parliamentary channels.
