Cristiano Ronaldo has secured the first-ever B.O.A.T. (All-Time Ballon d'Or) title, surpassing Lionel Messi in a fan-led poll. This new accolade sought to identify the most exceptional Ballon d'Or performance in history. Supporters ranked Ronaldo’s 2008 season as the top achievement, followed by Messi’s 2012 campaign. The 2008 victory marked the first of five Ballon d'Or awards for Ronaldo, earned during a standout year with Manchester United where he netted 42 goals and secured both the Premier League and Champions League trophies. The voting period ran from October 1 to October 27, concluding shortly after the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony held in London. Participants were required to pay a fee of one euro per vote, which allowed for multiple entries and provided contributors with a commemorative photograph.
