During the third day of Martin Romualdez’s bail hearing, his legal team questioned prosecution witness Rodante Orbillo regarding inaccuracies in a February 2026 joint affidavit. Defense lawyer Rashel Ann Pomoy highlighted that the document, which led to a P7.4-billion plunder case against Romualdez, contained errors previously acknowledged by counsel Levito Baligod, including the incorrect naming of certain public officials. Pomoy further pressed Orbillo on the recantations of several other former bodyguards who were allegedly involved in the same money delivery claims. While Orbillo maintained he delivered suitcases of cash, he admitted Romualdez was not present during these events. When questioned by Justice Karl Miranda about his motivations for testifying despite alleged bribery offers, Orbillo claimed he was acting for the nation, a statement the judge met with skepticism regarding the witness's credibility and personal accountability.
