Don Mueang International Airport has reported the discovery of 1,122 restricted or non-compliant items within 927 pieces of checked luggage. These findings occurred during the initial week of updated baggage inspection protocols implemented by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, which began on October 16. The new regulations authorize security personnel to inspect checked bags in the absence of passengers if screening processes detect potential safety hazards. The items confiscated between October 16 and October 22 primarily consisted of electronic cigarettes, power banks, lighters, and various battery-operated devices. To maintain transparency under these new security measures, officials are required to document the inspection process on video and leave a formal notification for the passenger regarding the opened baggage.
