The Workers’ Party has officially voiced its disappointment regarding Indonesia’s move to reduce natural gas exports to Singapore. In a recent social media statement, the opposition party highlighted that this decision appears linked to unfounded conspiracy theories suggesting Singaporean sovereign wealth funds are manipulating Indonesia's financial market position. The party emphasized that these claims are entirely separate from the actual energy supply situation. Furthermore, the Workers’ Party noted that it has been actively monitoring the stability of Singapore's piped natural gas imports for several years. Specifically, the party pointed to parliamentary inquiries initiated by MP Gerald Giam since 2022, which sought to address concerns regarding unplanned supply disruptions and the overall reliability of energy imports from Indonesia. The party maintains that energy security remains a critical issue that requires consistent oversight and transparent communication between the two nations.
