Senator JV Ejercito has expressed support for the proposal that senators should decline any potential offer to serve as vice president if Sara Duterte is removed from office via impeachment. Ejercito argued that accepting such a role would compromise the neutrality of senators who are currently serving as judges in the impeachment trial. He emphasized that it would be inappropriate for members of the upper chamber to take on the position while simultaneously presiding over the legal proceedings regarding the Vice President's future. Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano has similarly urged his colleagues to reject any such appointment to maintain the integrity of the court. Ejercito noted that while the final decision rests with the individuals approached by the President, the ideal course of action is to prioritize their judicial responsibilities over political advancement.
