Qatar Museums Chairperson Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani has officially opened a new exhibition titled 'Boats Floating Afar: The Maritime Trade of Ancient Chinese Ceramics' at the National Museum of Qatar. Developed in partnership with the National Museum of China, the display examines the historical significance of Chinese ceramic exports across maritime routes from the Tang through the Qing dynasties. Spanning over a millennium of trade history, the exhibition features more than 100 artifacts from the National Museum of China, complemented by items from the Qatar Museums collection. The showcase highlights how these goods influenced artistic styles, commercial practices, and everyday life in distant regions. Located in Temporary Gallery 13, the exhibition underscores the long-standing connections facilitated by ancient sea trade networks.
