Authorities in Tripura's Sepahijala district have apprehended eight people involved in an attack on four Border Security Force (BSF) members, including an assistant commandant. The confrontation took place on Monday in Ashabari, Boxanagar, following a dispute between BSF personnel from the 49th Battalion and a local resident regarding suspected smuggling activities. The situation escalated when locals blocked a nearby road and subsequently targeted the security team, damaging their vehicle and injuring the officers. Chief Minister Manik Saha condemned the violence, labeling the assault on security forces as unacceptable. He has instructed officials to pursue rigorous legal action against all perpetrators to ensure accountability. The injured BSF personnel received initial medical care at a local health facility. The state government has emphasized that such acts of aggression against security staff will be met with strict enforcement of the law.
