Authorities in Kazakhstan have announced plans to upgrade the Kokshetau–Petropavlovsk highway, a vital 200-kilometer transit corridor currently experiencing heavy daily traffic of over 8,000 vehicles. According to KazAvtoZhol, the project involves widening the existing two-lane road into a four-lane thoroughfare that adheres to Category I technical standards, featuring a central median. Officials anticipate that this infrastructure development will enhance road safety, alleviate congestion, and boost overall capacity. The initiative follows recent remarks by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of national road quality. During his address, the President mandated that officials prioritize high-quality construction standards for all road projects across the country to ensure better infrastructure for the public.
