The Federal Bureau of Investigation has officially identified a North Korean-linked entity known as TraderTraitor as the perpetrator behind a significant cyberattack on the Binance cryptocurrency exchange. This incident, which resulted in the loss of over six billion dollars in digital assets, is considered the largest heist of its kind to date. Following the breach, Binance, the world's leading crypto trading platform, announced that it has utilized internal reserves to restore 90 percent of the stolen funds to affected users. The disclosure of this security compromise led to a notable decline in the market value of major cryptocurrencies. Investigations link the same group to a previous 1.5 billion dollar theft from the Bybit platform, which occurred in February of the preceding year.
