The Housing and Development Board (HDB) has announced updated development plans for the Maju Forest and Gillman Barracks sites following a public consultation period held between July and August. Revised designs will result in a 10 percent increase in preserved greenery at Maju Forest and a 20 percent rise in both new and retained green spaces at Gillman Barracks. These adjustments aim to minimize the environmental footprint of upcoming residential projects. Minister of State for National Development Alvin Tan confirmed that the revised strategy will facilitate the construction of approximately 11,000 new homes, with 4,000 units planned for Maju Forest and 7,000 for Gillman Barracks. Of the total units at Gillman Barracks, 5,500 are designated for public housing. Demolition and site preparation activities are scheduled to commence in 2027 and 2028 respectively.
