During a recent High Court session, legal representatives for the police argued that the family of the late Teoh Beng Hock failed to justify the significant delay in initiating judicial review proceedings. Counsel Sallehuddin Ali stated that the family had been aware for over seven years that authorities had not launched a murder investigation into the 2009 death of the political aide. The case, which involves the discovery of Teoh's body at the Selangor MACC office, saw a reclassification in 2019 to wrongful confinement under Section 342 of the Penal Code. Government lawyers emphasized that the family had previously expressed dissatisfaction regarding the investigation's progress and had inquired about the status of the probe papers with the Attorney-General's Chambers, suggesting they were well-informed of the legal situation long before filing their current challenge.
