The Environmental Protection Department of Hong Kong has rejected online speculation regarding a recent fire at the I·PARK1 waste management facility. Following the blaze on Monday at the artificial island site near Shek Kwu Chau, rumors circulated suggesting that the incident was triggered by structural design failures or the collapse of an incineration module. In a statement released on Wednesday, officials characterized these claims as completely unfounded. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire likely originated from construction materials stored on-site, rather than from the facility's operational machinery or processed waste. The government emphasized that the incinerator's design was not a contributing factor to the emergency.
